Context
Helps national consortia generate the building LCA data their governments need to set whole life carbon benchmarks and targets.
Objectives
- Fund and support national consortia. Local teams of researchers, industry and government who build their country’s building LCA dataset themselves, rather than receiving one.
- Supply the common method. A shared data model, collection protocol and quality criteria, so the results of four countries can be compared without any of them being told what to find.
- Carry it into policy. The point of the data is benchmarks, target values and reporting requirements - so the work runs alongside the people who will have to set them.
Where it runs
Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy and Luxembourg, under the EU LIFE Clean Energy Transition programme - following the pilot in Ireland, Spain and Czechia.
Who is behind it
INDICATE LIFE is co-ordinated by Smith Innovation, with BPIE, KU Leuven, RISE and the World Green Building Council as project partners providing technical and political support. It is co-funded by the European Union LIFE programme.
